NBA Africa and Africell hosted a Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA clinic at the Osvaldo Serra Van-DĂşnem Pavilion in Huambo, Angola, marking the first time that Jr. NBA programming has been brought to the city. The clinic welcomed 250 boys and girls ages 18 and under for a day of NBA Fit, basketball instruction, skill development and life skills education.

As part of today’s clinic, young participants received instruction on basketball fundamentals – including shooting, dribbling, passing, and defense – alongside off-court sessions focused on leadership, teamwork, and discipline. The clinic is part of a broader calendar of Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA events taking place across Angola and Africell’s operating markets in 2026, building on a program that has touched the lives of thousands of young people since its inception and continues to grow the game at the grassroots level.

Huambo joins a growing list of Angolan communities reached by the Africell and NBA Africa collaboration. The milestone underscores Africell and NBA Africa’s commitment to expanding access to basketball development across the country.

Launched in 2022, the collaboration between NBA Africa and Africell has reached thousands of young Angolans through a wide-ranging program of Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA tournaments, clinics, and court development initiatives. The collaboration has most recently expanded to the Democratic Republic of Congo, The Gambia, and Sierra Leone, further deepening the NBA’s footprint across the continent.
